WHAT WAS CLAIMED

Donald Trump posted that he won't meet Anthony Albanese and wants to meet Queensland senator Pauline Hanson instead.

OUR VERDICT

False. The post is fake.

AAP FACTCHECK - US President Donald Trump did not say Australia should send over One Nation senator Pauline Hanson to meet with him instead of Anthony Albanese, despite claims online.

A screenshot of a Truth Social post that shows Mr Trump making the alleged statement about the prime minister is fake.

The post was shared on Facebook on September 23, 2025, and begins by calling Mr Albanese "a weak leader".

"I WILL NOT meet with him. GO HOME LOSER! Australia can send over Pauline Hanson, and I will meet with her," the post reads.

"Pauline loves Australia and Australians. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

The fake post references the PM's recent efforts to secure an in-person meeting with the US president.

Mr Albanese met Mr Trump briefly at the UN on September 23, 2025, the first time since the president took office in January. It followed a number of cancelled meetings.

The prime minister is set to return to the US for his first official meeting with the president in October.

This meeting has not been cancelled to date and the post is fake. There is no mention of Pauline Hanson in any of Mr Trump's Truth Social posts.

Neither could any reference to Senator Hanson be found on Trump's Truth, an independent web archive of the president's posts on the social platform.

The image of the fake Trump post includes the president's username, profile picture and a pink verified tick, but the font is different from the Truth Social font.

There are also no credible media reports that Mr Trump wanted to meet the firebrand senator from Queensland.

It is not the only fake Truth Social post relating to Mr Albanese's meeting with the president.

Another suspicious post purportedly shows a different Truth Social tirade from the president, referring to his interaction with an ABC reporter.

"I told the Australian ABC reporter that he was HURTING Australia, he didn't listen to me, they never do!!" the post reads.

"I have cancelled my meeting with Anthony 'Airbus' Albanese. He continues to be an EMBARRASSMENT to Australia & their great people!

"Censoring citizens from social media is not very smart & neither is Anthony."

Again, there is no evidence of the post on Mr Trump's Truth Social account, on Trump's Truth or in any credible media reports.

The post appears to have originated from an X account known for posting images of fake Truth Social posts.
